Can you get a return-to-work note online? Yes. A US-licensed physician can review your case online and issue a simple return-to-work note stating you may resume work on a given date, usually the same day, no video visit required in covered states. It is a date-of-return note, not a fitness-for-duty or medical clearance.
How it works
-
Tell us what’s going on
Answer a short, adaptive 2-minute form about your symptoms — not a static tick-box questionnaire.
-
A clinician licensed in your state will review it
At launch, a licensed clinician will review your written answers, may ask a follow-up question, and can decline if a note isn’t appropriate.
-
Get your note by email
At launch, notes will arrive as a PDF with a verification code. Turnaround targets will be published before we open.
What you can get a note for
Everyday, short-term reasons you might need to be excused:
We focus on legitimate, low-risk notes. We don’t issue FMLA, disability, or fitness-for-duty paperwork, and we never diagnose, treat, or prescribe online.
This is a simple return-to-work note confirming a date of return ("may resume work on [date]"). It is explicitly NOT a fitness-for-duty clearance, a medical-release decision for high-risk roles, or a statement that you are medically cleared for specific job duties. We do not provide fitness-for-duty evaluations, FMLA, or disability documentation, and we never diagnose or prescribe online.
Why CuroNote
Real licensed clinicians
Every note will be reviewed and signed by a clinician licensed in your state, and we'll always tell you exactly which states we cover.
Written review, not a waiting room
Our model is a written review of your answers. If the clinician needs more, they can ask questions or request a call, and we'll confirm each state's process before opening there.
Fair, flat pricing
One transparent price with no hidden fees, and money-back if a doctor decides they can’t help.
Private by design
HIPAA-aligned handling: your information is encrypted in transit and at rest, and never sold.
Verification & authenticity
Every note is watermarked and carries a unique verification code, so your employer can confirm it’s genuine with us at any time, free. Need a small correction to dates or a name? Modifications are free. That’s the opposite of a free template off the internet — which an employer can spot, and which can get you fired.

When you need a return-to-work note
After a short illness, many employers ask for written confirmation of the date you’re cleared to come back. A return-to-work note covers exactly that: a doctor licensed in your state reviews your case and, if appropriate, issues a simple note stating you may resume work on a given date.
It’s important to know what this is not. A return-to-work note is a date-of-return confirmation. It is not a fitness-for-duty clearance, which certifies you can safely perform specific job duties (common for safety-sensitive roles) and usually requires an in-person evaluation. If your employer needs that, an online note won’t be the right tool, and we’ll be upfront about it.
